2014 - Watercolor & Acrylic on paper - 76 x 55 cm.
A denouncement to the violence that consumes Guatemala since the colonial times, along the revolutions and authoritarian regimes, especially during the civil war, and keeps haunting us today.
Peace treaties have been signed, but the peace never came; the violence, the hate and the discrimination are still smoldering. Around 17 people are assassinated every day in here. This piece is for them, for the ones that mourn the loss of a loved one, the ones that live in fear. It is for the discriminated and the margined, the poor and the lost.
A rose for every victim. The skin with no color that represents that the color of the skin gives us no higher value, being that the color of our blood is the same.
I hope I can live for the day that the peace comes to Guatemala
